Shaping Pottery
Handmade pottery for the thoughtful home

I'm Danielle, the artist behind Stoney Brim Pottery. I've always admired the work of other potters and the feel of a well-made pottery mug—you pottery lovers know what I mean!

I wanted to learn how to make great pottery, and with my husband's help and encouragement, I got a pottery wheel in the fall of 2020. As they say, "The rest is history."

Stay awhile and look around. You may find something you cant live without!

True Art

Pottery is not just another mug or bowl to serve your favorite drink or food. Each piece of our pottery starts as a lump of clay that needs to be shaped on the potter's wheel. During this careful process, the artist has complete control of the shape and size of the piece. The question is often asked, “ What color should we make it?” to give the pottery its impressive finish. We start by dipping or painting on a glaze, and the glaze goes on as a dull grey or white. Then comes the fire of the true artist, the kiln! Pottery needs high heat to help the glaze create its beautiful colors and protect the clay from its daily use.

Our pottery is handmade from start to finish, so don't think of it like a coffee cup you got from the bank!
